Thanks for visiting my blog!

Sorry for not updating recently, I am getting really busy with my baby.
She started walking around and seems like becoming genki(元気) everyday.
Being a little tired chasing around in this hot and humid weather,
I am going take off for this month and will come back next month.

So see you til then...
Have a nice summer vacation!

All the best,

This is hiyashi-chuuka(冷やし中華), another popular food to eat for lunch in summer. It's a chinese noodle dipped in a cold vinegared soy sauce or sesame sauce, topped with egg strips, imitated crab meat, sliced cucumber, ham etc. Colorful and tastes light! If you've already had enough of cold udon or soba noodles this summer, try this one! Hiyashi-chuuka package is easily found at a grocery stores and it comes with a sauce! Just be careful to look on the package for the taste you want, 醤油だれ(shouyu-dare) stands for vinegared soy sauce and 胡麻だれ(goma-dare) stands for sesame sauce.

Cooking time: 10mins
Servings: 1

1 package chinese noodle
a slice of ham, cut into strips
1/2 cucumber, cut into strips
some imitated crab meat(蟹カマ, kanikama)
1 egg

for those who would like to make it for yourselves..
15cc rice vinegar
25cc soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/4 tablespoon mirin
1 teaspoon brown sesame oil

To make egg strips, beat an egg. Heat a frying pan and oil. Pour some egg and make a sheet. Take out and cut into strips. Repeat until the egg is over.

Boil chinese noodles for a few minutes. The time depends on the brand. Chill it in an ice water. Drain and place it on a plate. Mix the seasonings for the sauce. Pour the sauce and dish up with ham, cucumber, imitated crab meat, and egg strips.

Imitated crab meat(蟹カマ, kanikama) is made from processed white fish.

I just can't keep up with this hot and humid weather in Tokyo. Better than cold but it's too hot. For those who are like me, here is something to cool you!!

This is kakigoori(かき氷), shaved ice, a popular sweet in summer. Flavored with matcha(抹茶), sweetened azuki beans(あずき) and condensed milk, sweetness and bitterness are mixed together perfectly as you pop into your mouth. It's really really yummy!

Other common flavors are strawberry, lemon, melon, and blue hawaii. But matcha is the best!
