Mugwort mochi and Cherry Blossom mochi



Still chilly days going on but I found these mochi cakes at the nearby shop.

Spring is here!

These are made from glutinous rice called mochi-gome(餅米) and azuki bean paste(小豆餡)  is stuffed inside. The green one is colored with mugwort. The pink one is artificially colored to imitate cherry blossoms and wrapped in a cherry leaf pickled in brine.

The cherry blossom mochi is often eaten on Girls' Day in March.
