My friend came to visit my house the other day and gave my baby this little sweet mochi(餅) cake! It was wrapped in the water-proof origami(折り紙) shaping the Emperor and Empress for the Doll's Festival.
The traditional Japanese art of paper folding is said to have been started in the 17 century. The famous origami figures now are crane, balloon, boat etc. I remember folding origami in kindergarden.
It looks so LOVELY!
